The Civic Theatre

The Civic Theatre is the major performing arts venue in Southland that benefited from a $15.8 million refurbishment in 2005. A traditional 3-tiered auditorium seats up to 1015 people. The stagehouse and dressing room block is state-of-the-art efficient, with a world-class flying system.

There are two function rooms, the Victoria and Drawing Rooms. The venue can accommodate up to 500 people for a function when utilising the Civic Theatre. The Victoria Room has the capacity to seat 180 people for dinner and 235 people for a standing function. The room is commonly used for Corporate events, Wedding Receptions, Seminars, Trade Displays, Cocktail Functions, Recitials and the list goes on. The Drawing Room can hold 100 people standing and Theatre Style seating. The room has a great theatrical feeling and was once used as the Council Chambers, making it diverse for Wedding Ceremonies, initmate corporate meetings, Corporate Workshops, Business Dinners and Awards for 50 people.
