Founders Theatre

Founders Theatre is Hamilton's iconic city venue which opened in 1962.  This proscenium arch theatre has a capcity of 1249 and is located in the scenic Boyes Park.  Founders Theatres hosts a wide range of national companies including the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and the Royal New Zealand Ballet, international and national touring concerts, comedy and theatre.

It is ideally suited to drama, comedy, smaller dance recitals and corporate events and functions.  Montana Catering is our exclusive in house caterer and Ticketek is our exclusive ticketing agency with an on site box office in operation.

Hamilton City Theatres is Hamilton City Council’s operational arm for three of the city’s best venues.  Under the Hamilton City Theatres brand, and a single management, each has distinctively different facilities and all three theatres are located within Hamilton’s CBD where accommodation, restaurants and bars are all within easy walking distance.
